It has, once again, been forever since I posted here.  Really have not had to time to make anything.  Now that I am not working, I am creating again. Here is a centaur that I worked on for a long time.  It is needle felted out of wool.  It is 12" tall and 12" long.  I have also entered it into a contest.  Wish me luck.

I have also created a new line of polymer clay sculpts.  I call them Hen Feathers.  I have had pet chickens for two years now.  I really love my birds, and had a few favorites too.  Out of the 27 birds I had I only have one left.  over the past year, first foxes then bobcats killed them off.  Every time one was killed a pile of beautiful colored and fuzzy feathers were left behind.  I would gather them up planning on using them in my crafts.  In honor of my beloved birds I lost, I started sculpting whimsical hens and roosters in three sizes using the feathers for their wings and tails.  You can see the whole line of them at my Etsy store: www.sacredcat.etsy.com  Here are a few pics to peak your curiosity.

Zentangle

I have found a wonderful new art form, and am totally addicted.  It is called Zentangle.  I see it as a form of meditative creating.  A tangle is a design.  you draw a string, a scribble line, basically, crossing over itself, curving, straight, all at once.  Then in each section that is created, you draw a different tangle.  I bought a kit from the website www.zentangle.com.  In fact, I also got a kit for my two nieces and two nephews, and I hope they are enjoying this as much as I am.
I did not realize how wide spread this was until I started finding blogs about it. They even have certified Zentangle teachers.  I would love to become one, but have to save up a lot of money first.

Friendship Spirit Doll

I am in a swap group, and one of the swaps I joined in on was a doll swap.  I decided to do a beaded doll.  I really like doing these, and want to do more.  This one has beaded hair.  I used a polymer clay face that I got in a swap a couple years ago.  I liked the purple used on the face and tried to match that with the beading around the face and the hair.  I had a lot of fun doing this one and I hope her recipient likes her.  She is about 5" tall, maybe 6" with her hair.

Peace Felt 2010

I joined a wonderful project started by Marie Spaulding of Living Felt called Peace Felt 2010.  Check out http://www.peacefelt.org/index.html  As usual, I am a little behind, but I finally finished my project and will be mailing it to Scotland, to a wonderful woman, Valerie, who has a craft store/gallery and will be hanging my piece in her gallery.  This made me very nervous, but I believe I have created something worth hanging in a gallery.
Peace is something I have always dreamed of for this world.  A world full of love and joy and caring for one another.  To me, the purist symbol of Peace is a white dove.  This was the basis of my creation.
The Earth is needle felted onto a florist foam ball to keep the piece light for hanging.  The dove is 100% wool.  I really enjoyed making this creation and it is one of the biggest pieces I have made.  I did the land masses on the Earth by freehand, so I must admit that they are not exactly true to their placement on the real Earth.  Each feather on the doves tail and wings was made separately then added on.

Just curious, does anyone else notice in the picture of me holding the piece, that it seems to be glowing, or is it just me?
